Joyce L. Boyce, 79, of Hastings, passed away on Tuesday in North Carolina while visiting family. Joyce was a member of the North Syracuse Eastern Star Chapter; the Plank Road Quilter's Club; and a member of the First Baptist Church of Central Square. Joyce's favorite pastime was quilting, where she won many ribbons at the State Fair. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. Joyce was predeceased by her grandson, Brian Boyce, in 1988. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Lawrence "Larry" Boyce; two sons, Charles and LeRoy Boyce; two daughters, Lucy Baumgart and Cynthia Teague; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lucy Wickham. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Central Square. Family and friends may call on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Traub Funeral Home, 684 N. Main Street, Central Square. Burial will take place at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, DeWitt. Contributions may be made in Joyce's honor to the First Baptist Church of Central Square's music fund.
