Musician, wife of Robert Schumann. She was something of an infant prodigy and gave piano concerts when she was only 9 years old. Her father, a well know music teacher, wanted her to become a famous musician and was so violently opposed to her marriage to Robert Schumann, they were forced to go to court to get official approval of their marriage. Her picture is on the 100 DM note of German currency.
