Victoria "Tori" Swartwout Morris, age 53, a resident of Penn Laird, passed away on July 28, 2013 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. A daughter of the late Richard James and Eunice Strong Swartwout, she was born in Syracuse, NY on November 2, 1959. She was also preceded death by her sister, Wanda Swartwout.

Tori was raised in Connecticut and later Kleinburg, Ontario, Canada, until moving to the Valley in 1970 with her family. She graduated from Montevideo High School in 1977, obtained her AAS in mental health from Blue Ridge Community College in 1979, her LPN from Massanutten Technical Center in 1985, RN in nursing in 2001 from B.R.C.C,. and her B.S.N from Eastern Mennonite University in 2008.

Tori was employed by Rockingham Memorial Hospital since 1986 as a nurse in the Ambulatory Surgery Center and most recently as the Patient Safety and Accreditation Consultant. A beloved, hands-on grandmother, she enjoyed spending most of her time with her three grandchildren. She also enjoyed crafting and thrifting.

On June 18, 1977 she married Edward "Eddie" Alan Morris, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Toviah Morris Spencer and husband, David, of Staunton, and Katy Hope Rinker and husband, Marc, of Harrisonburg; her brother, Lawrence D. Swartwout, of Rawley Springs; three grandchildren, Zachary Kayne Floyd, Madelyn Victoria Rinker and Hanna Jane Spencer.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

A private committal service and inurnment will be held at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg.

In lieu of customary floral tributes, memorial contributions may be made to the RMH Foundation, 2010 Health Campus Drive, Harrisonburg, VA 22801
