Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm on February 7, 2013 at the United Methodist Church at 321 4th Avenue, Seward, Alaska. Doug's ashes will be scattered on top Mount Marathon by his family on July 4th, 2013 during the Mount Marathon race.
Douglas was born on January 16, 1969 in Seward, Alaska. He attended Boise State University where he studied Physical Education and Archeology. He was a loyal employee of Safeway for over seventeen years; he enjoyed hiking, traveling, and photography as his hobbies.
The family shared that "Doug was a loving husband and family man who adored his nieces and nephews. Doug lived life to the fullest by traveling and exploring the world. Doug just completed a big adventure by visiting India and visiting the Taj Mahal with his wife by his side. Doug loved his Mom and Dad and watched over them faithfully. Doug will be remembered for his worldly travels but in the end always returning back to the place he loved the most. . . Alaska."
Doug is survived by his wife Maria Kobzeva of Seward, AK; mother and father Marie and Skip Fletcher of Seward, AK; brother Skip Jr. Fletcher of Lahaina, HI; as well as his four sisters, Sandra Fletcher of Anchorage, AK; Nancy Stout of Moses Lake, WA; Suzanne Moore of Snohomish, WA; Kambe Padgett of Wasilla, AK; and his numerous nieces and nephews.
