10 Sep 1890 a widow named Maria Reed who lived in Ohio and who had been married to a Charles Reed born in Tennessee, applied for and received a pension as the widow of 54th Massachusetts soldier Charles Reed who was still alive and well. Her husband was not the Charles Reed who served in the 54th; research underway to determine his regiment.

Nov 1849 in MA, lived alone in Worcester MA, and states she has had 10 children and none are still living.
