Son of Nicholas Rogers IV and Eleanor Buchanan. He studied law at Harvard University graduating in 1808 , during his time there he was president of the Hasty Pudding Club in 1806. Upon his return to Baltimore ,Lloyd served during the war of 1812 as a private in Captain Henry Thompson's First Baltimore Calvary Artillery . Lloyd participated in the battles of Bladensburg and Baltimore as part of an observation and messenger unit. He was also part of the unit that served as a personal guard to Major General Samuel Smith. Lloyd was a director of the Northern Central Railway. He was married twice His first wife , Eliza Park Custis Law with whom he had two children , Edmund and Elenor . His second wife Hortensia Monroe Hay , bore him three chidren , Harriet , Hortensia and Mary Custis. Upon Lloyd's death His family lands were sold to the city of Baltimore and Druid Hill Park was created. His family cemetery still exists within the park to the current day.
