Ona Maxine Kendrick , 88, a resident of Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion, died at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids on Saturday, May 23, 2009. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion by the Rev. Del Bear. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.

Survivors include her children; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her sister {names omitted for privacy}.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Judy; and two sisters, Betty and Naomi.

Ona was born July 2, 1920, to William and Vera (Hinkle) Morgan in Washington, Iowa. She was married to Wayne Kendrick at the Little Brown Church in Nashua on June 17, 1939. He died Nov. 19, 2000. Ona was the school secretary for Starry Elementary School for 20 years, retiring in 1980. She loved to cross-stitch and crochet.
