A J Beverlin who made his home here with his daughter, Mrs Mary Upton, Passed away suddenly last Thursday night at about 1:30AM. He had spent the day at the store as usual in the best of spirits and seemingly good health. His death came as a shock to the community where Mr Beverlin was popular and respected.

OBITUARY
Andrew Jackson Beverlin was born near Wheeling, West Virginia Oct. 12 1848 and passed away at Mt. Hope Kansas Dec. 7 1923 at the age of 75 years, 1 month and 24 day.
He was married to Martha J. Peck Dec. 4 1870. To this union three children were born, Mary, Jeanette, and Cora, the latter having died in infancy.
His wife died at Elmdale, Kansas Aug 7 1917. He moved with his parents to Elmdale in the Spring of 1865 and lived at that place 54 years. He united with the Congregational Church on 1883.
In 1921 he moved to Mt. Hope with his daughter, Mary Upton and her family. While he has been in this community but a short time, he has buy his cheerful and generous disposition, won a host of friends who were saddened by his death.
Besides the friends, he leaves to mourn his death: Two daughters and their families, Mrs. A H Upton of Mt. Hope Kansas, and Mrs C E Haglund of San Francisco, California; five grandchildren and one great grandchild; six brothers and two sisters. Joshua and Eliga Beverlin of Falsum, West Virginia; Frank Beverlin of Hunter, Oklahoma, F A Beverlin of Tonkawa Oklahoma, W C Beverlin of Longton Kansas, A B Beverlin of Idaho; Mrs Amanda Gardner of Cottonwood Falls, Kansas and Mrs Jan Jolley of Minneapolis, Kansas.
A short funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Newton Sherman at the Upton residence and burial was in the Elmdale cemetery.
They are not gone,
These friends of ours,
They have wandered
Into a field of flowers,
They have dropped forever
Their load of care
And found for themselves
A Heaven fair.
