Obituary from The Sacramento Bee, Sacramento, CA, 13 Oct 1938:
"T. J. McClain Dies Of Injuries
Thomas J. McClain, 85, of 1619 P Street died today in the Sutter Hospital from injuries suffered last Saturday. He was struck at the corner of Sixteenth and J Streets by a car driven by Harold L. Jordan, 3440 Thirty Seventh Street.
Jordan told police that McClain stepped in front of his car after the light had given him the right of way, and that he had not seen McClain approaching.
McClain, a retired farmer, was a native of Masontown, Pa. His survivors include his daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Runquist of North Sacramento, Mrs. Eva Questad of San Francisco, and his sons, Harry and Fred Purcell of Canada.
Rev. Kelner Roe of the Bethel Lutheran Church will conduct the funeral services which will be held at 2:30 P. M. Saturday in the Mission Chapel of Andres & Greilich, Twenty Eighth and W Streets."
