Michael W. Winfree (Mike), passed away July 19, 2005, in Norfolk from injuries he received in a swimming accident at Nags Head, N.C.
Born Dec. 6, 1956, he graduated from Lexington High School and from Lynchburg General Hospital School of Nursing. He worked at Lynchburg General Hospital for 23 years in the emergency room, mainly at the triage desk.
Mike loved and lived life to the fullest, loving adventure and challenges. He was very active on the theatrical stage both in singing and acting. His interest in photography was giving him another passion to fulfill.
Preceding him in death was his father, the Rev. William A. Winfree; brother, Larry; and sister, Mary Louise.
Surviving him is his mother, Elsie L. Winfree; his fiancé, Victoria Lawrie; the love of his life; children, Elizabeth and Eddie; brother, Jack and wife, Diane, their children, Katie and Will; sister, Cathy Fletcher and her two sons, Matt and Mike.
The family requests that any memorials be sent to Timberlake United Methodist Church, 21649 Timberlake Road, or the Renaissance Theatre, 102 Commerce Ave., Lynchburg.
Visitation will be held at Timberlake United Methodist Church, from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2005. The funeral will be held at Timberlake United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23. Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park.
Diuguid Waterlick Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
