Roy G. "Junie" Peck, Jr., 75, of Mercersburg died Saturday July 27, 2013 at the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born April 8, 1938, at Mercersburg, he was a son of the late Roy G., Sr. and Marden Schooley Peck.

He began his 54 year work career at the Mercersburg Academy in March 1956 on the grounds staff. He then was a plumber and his last position at the school was as power plant operator. He retired in September 2010.

Junie was a member of Moose Lodge #1790, VFW #6241, and American Legion #517 all of Mercersburg. He enjoyed hunting, watching TV, movies, gardening, classic country music, butchering, and eating at restaurants.

Surviving family include his wife, Sally A. Unger Peck, whom he married July 8, 1967. Daughters Melissa A. Abbott & fiancé William Mays of St. Thomas, and De-Enda R. & husband Dirk Rotz of Ft. Loudon, a son, Jamie G. Peck & companion Brenda Truax of McConnellsburg, and 5 grandchildren. Siblings, Marla M. Peck, Ronnie G. Peck, Leslie L. Peck, & Harlan H. Peck all of Mercersburg, Karen B. Shannon of Chambersburg, Jerle L. Peters of St. Thomas, Gary H. Peck of McConnellsburg, and Dennis R. Peck of Myerstown.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM July 31st at Mercersburg Academy Chapel with Pastor Vera Keith officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.

Viewing 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg.
