Burial for Emily Julie Cyr Bridges will be private.

Mrs. Bridges was born Jan. 15, 1912 in Jeanerette. She was the daughter of Florence Mary McGowen Cyr and Dr. Paul N. Cyr. She was the granddaughter of Florence Bussey McGowen and Dr. Charles A. McGowen.

She attended Bethel Women's College at Hopkinsville, Ky. and Southwestern Louisiana Institute in Lafayette.

Mrs. Bridges worked for her father, Dr. Paul N. Cyr when he served as Lieutenant Governor of Louisiana in 1928. Later she was employed by First National Bank of Jeanerette. A pioneer of women in aviation, she flew patrol missions over Louisiana coastal areas as a member of the Civil Air Patrol during World War II. She was an enthusiastic lover of antiques and was well recognized in that field.

She acquired and restored Albania Plantation in 1957. She had made it her home since that date.

Mrs. Bridges was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James H. Bridges; and her brother, Charles M. Cyr.

She is survived by her sister, Marjorie Cyr Burch of Beaumont, Texas; her brother, Louie M. Cyr of New Iberia; and the children of James H. Bridges, Charles M. Cyr, and Louie M. Cyr.
