Dutch worked for 40 years in the glass trade and did many large jobs including the Air Force Academy Chapel, Blue Cross-Blue Shield Building and Blueberry job. He was a skilled craftsman who took a lot of pride in his work and he passed this on to his children. He was a proud member of the Glaziers Local 930 union for 60 years. He was also a Mason and belonged to the Masonic Lodge #5 for 50 years.
Dutch loved the mountains and outdoors. Dutch and his wife and sons did many outdoor activities such as camping, hiking and fishing. Dutch devoted many hours to his children he was a Cub Scout Pack Leader, Boy Scout Troop Leader and softball coach. Dutch spent many hours camping, fishing and directing scouting activities. Dutch was a leader and role model for his children, grandchildren and others that knew him. He loved to water ski and ride his trail bike with his family.
Dutch loved music he particularly enjoyed Johnny Cash and Creedence Clearwater Revival. Many nights after dinner Dutch would play his guitar while his family listened. Dutch had many hobbies - he loved working with his hands doing leather carving, fly tying and playing music.
Dutch loved animals and raised and trained dogs for pheasant hunting. After he retired he and Carolyn moved to the mountains and raised exotic birds and miniature donkeys for many years.
Dutch was a storyteller, and always had good story or joke to share. He would alleviate and lighten the conversation with his way of telling a joke or a story.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family and often said he had the best family in the whole world.
Dutch was very proud of his nickname, because when he was very young his grandpa called him that and he had it for all his life. He loved his grandpa very much.
Dutch went home to be with the Lord July 7, 2013. He will be missed greatly by his family and all who knew him.
