2 census records both reported and match for a birth year of 1852, but there is a problem with that. His father's death date on family trees reflect that he died on September 22, 1851 and so William would have had to have been born in October 1851 (most likely his mother was carrying him at the time of her husband's death).

It will seem logical that this will be correct and so that is the year of birth that will be considered to be the correct year.
Whoever provided the information for the gravestone obviously gave wrong information. The year of birth is incorrect and also the spelling of the last name as Billyew is incorrect.

Census 1910, enumerated on the 18th day of April, 1910 reports that William and wife Martha residing in Fort Scott, Bourbon county, KS. He is working as a house carpenter. His birth year is reported as 1852 and he is 58 y/o. Children reported as Martha P., age 18, Harrell age 14 and Grace age 10.

Wife Martha passes away in 1913.

Second marriage to Gladys Oldham Sept 5, 1915

Census 1920 enumerated on the 16/17th of January, 1920 reports William and wife Gladys residing in Sulphur Springs, Benton county, Arkansas.
Birth year reported as 1852 and he is 68
He is employed as the manager of a farm.
Gladys 2 sons, Loyce Oldham 25 and Beryl C Oldham is 14 is living with them.

NOTE:
The last name is misspelled on the gravestone as Billyew. Cemetery records and his Missouri Death Certificate recorded it as Bilyew.

He resided at 1134 Walnut street with his wife Gladys, and had worked as a painter. He was 67 years old at the time of his death from Interstitial nephritis (kidney disease) and abdominal cancer.
He was buried in Park Cemetery under the direction of Knell Undertaking Company.
