Her father passed away in August of 1880 and in 1883, the family moved to Hardy. In early spring of 1892, they moved back to the homestead. She attended rural school and later preparatory school at Manhattan Agricultural college for one year.
February 14, 1906, she was united in marriage with Roy R. Peckham and they established their home on a farm in Republic county, Kan. Two years later, they purchased a farm in the same county and resided there until 1946 when they moved to their present home in Hardy.
To this union were born three children, Helen Josephine, who died in infancy, Mary Louise Brooks of Grand Coulee, Wash., and Charlotte Caroline of the home.
She became a member of the Jewell Lutheran church in her early years and continued in active membership. Her interest in her home and family, in the church, and in the development of community life made her loved and respected by all.
She is survived by her husband, her two daughters, a son-in-law, Vernon K. Brooks of Grand Coulee, Wash.; two grandchildren, James Robert and Anna Marie Brooks, a sister, Mrs. Anna Ulsh, and a brother, William Hoy.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Harry Gleim in the Union church December 2 with interment in Rosemound (sic) cemetery (sic).
