"Funeral services for Claude Cecil Smith, of Wesson, are 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, at Sweetwater United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation was Saturday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Lying in state will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Mr. Smith, 83, died July 26, 2013, at Silver Cross Nursing Home. He was born in Copiah County on August 14, 1929, to Ollie Martin and Betty Lou Smith.

Mr. Smith worked for Stahl-Urban for 28 years and Packard Electric for 23 years, but his passion and his enjoyment was cattle and timber farming. He was a member of Sweetwater United Methodist Church.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Lavone Wells Smith, and his parents.

Survivors are his son, Gary Smith, and wife, Lisa; his daughter, Cathy Warren, and husband, Scott; his sister, Doris Hommons, and husband, Roy; his grandsons, Nick Smith and wife, Jennifer, Kyle Smith and fiancée, Nikki Hutson, Peyton Warren, Mason Warren and Bailey Warren; and two great grandchildren, Slay Acy and Trevor Smith."
