Timothy Knight
7/16/1933 - 7/27/2013

Timothy R. Knight passed away July 27, 2013, in his home under hospice care.

Born July 16, 1933, in Coffee County, Ala., he was the only son of Nellie and James Knight. His parents and, very recently, one of his two daughters preceded him in death.

Timothy graduated from New Brockton High School in Alabama. In 1953, he joined the Air Force, and while stationed in Germany he sang and played guitar in a country music band. There also he met his future wife, Siglinde, whom he married in Germany.

His first daughter, Joni, was born in Germany and his second daughter, Kristina, was born in Enterprise, Ala.

The family moved to California. There he worked for North American Rockwell Space Co. He returned to the South in 1972 and entered into the real estate business in Newnan, GA.

Tim loved going fishing with his daughters, and when the grandchildren came along, he enjoyed fishing with them, too.

Basketball was a sport he played in high school and was not outdone by his grandkids even in his 60s. He enjoyed playing the guitar at family gatherings and sang songs like "Big Rock Candy Mountain" to his children. He had a very keen sense of humor. Due to his cancer, Timothy retired from Wal-Mart. During this time his artistic side emerged and he made birdhouses, crystal wire trees and earrings.

He is survived by his wife, Siglinde, of 56 years; his daughter, Joni Chamberlin; and seven grandchildren, Kristina, Andrew, Timothy, Nathan and Angela (From Joni), Kyle and Rachel (from Kristina Woolley, who recently passed away); one great-grandchild, Graysen; and several cousins.

He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Unity Baptist Church, where he was a member.

The funeral will be on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the McKoon Funeral Home chapel. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Visitation was on Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m.
