William H. "Herb" Bryant, 79, of New Lebanon, died Tuesday, March 18. Born Aug. 6, 1923, in Kentucky, he was the son of Dorsey and Lillie (McClure) Bryant. He was a distinguished and decorated U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Normandy Invasion, and was an honorary veteran graduate of Menifee County High School in 2002. Mr. Bryant had retired from Dayton Walther and Bosma Machine. He served for over 40 years in the Eaton First Church of God as usher, treasurer and board of trustees member. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Selma Little; and brothers, Willard and Raymond Bryant. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Elza (Amburgey) Bryant; sons, Grady (Kathy Curtis) Bryant of Oxford, Ala., Randy (Roxanne Flora) Bryant of West Alexandria and Jerry (Karen Harper) Bryant of Eaton; a daughter, Vickie (Terry) Dafler of Brookville; seven grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Bowman of West Alexandria and Wilma Rhodes of Frenchburg, Ky.; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Friday, March 21, at the First Church of God, Eaton, with Pastor Jerry Reynolds officiating. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria. Rogers Funeral Home, New Lebanon, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton First Church of God, 601 E. Lexington Road, Eaton, OH 45320.
