Services for Mrs. Mary "Tessie" Scott, 32, of 1607 E. Eighth St., who died Monday in a fire at the home, will be at 10:00 am Friday at the Park Lawn Chapel; burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City. The official cause of death was smoke inhalation, carbon monoxide poisoning, and body burns. Friends may call from 7-8:30 pm Thursday at the Chapel. Mrs. Scott was a lifelong area resident. She was a cashier for the Pester Marketing Company store at 7001 E. Truman road. She leaves her husband, Dennis Ray Scott, A son, Timothy Ray Scott, and her parents, Oakley E. Mitchell and Joyce Columbine Gann Mitchell, all of Kansas City, Missouri; a sister, Mrs. Emma Wiley, Independence; two half brothers, Oakley Thomas Mitchell and Wayne Mitchell of Peoria, Illinois; and a half sister, Mrs. Geneva Overby, Ashburn, Georgia.

Her death was considered a homicide because it was investigated, and the fire was deemed to be an arson fire in the apartment building.
