MILITARY:
Jefferson PENNINGTON, served in the Civil War, Union, Private, enrolled Missouri Militia, 43rd Regt. E. M. M. Company C, Capt. Courtright, age 26, enrolled Aug 24, 1862 in California, Moniteau Co., MO, volunteered into active duty and on the roll of Apr 1, 1863. Honorably discharged on 27 Nov 1862. Credits 93 days in actual service with the MO Militia. His pension was denied due to lack of service records located by Missouri. This was not uncommon for servicemen who fought for the militia in the state of MO.
