Aged Milton Man A Suicide
Body Was Found by Brother Last Saturday Afternoon
Farin E. Osborne, an aged resident of Milton and a veteran of the Civil War, committed suicide Saturday afternoon by hanging himself to a rafter in his barn. He was found shortly after noon by his brother, H. R. Osborne , but too late to save him. Mr. Osborne was seventy-seven years of age and had been a resident of the village of Milton for the past fifteen years. Prior to that he resided on a farm in the town of Harmony.
Funeral services were held Tuesday and burial made at North Johnstown. Rev. I. S. Jones, assisted by Rev. A. L. McClelland, officiated.
Farin E. Osborne was born in Attica, Wyoming County, New York on March 21, 1827. A few years later he moved with his parents to Gerald, Pennsylvania, and in the year 1841, the family came west and settled in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin where they lived until 1850 when they purchased a farm in the town of Harmony. He was married to Lydia Cary, of Johnstown, in 1852 and settled on a farm adjoining his father's where he resided until fifteen years ago when he took up residence in Milton. He buried his first
wife September 1st of last year and in November following went to California where remained until May. A month ago he was married to Mrs. Margaret Cary of Janesville, who with his two brothers, William and Henry of Milton, and one sister, Mrs. Richard Cary of North Johnstown, and a large circle of other relatives and friends are left to mourn their loss. He was converted in early life, and joined the Free Baptist church if North Johnstown, of which he has since been a faithful and consistent member. He was genial in his disposition, a devoted husband, a kind and obliging neighbor and had the respect and esteem of all who know. He will be greatly missed in the community by a host of friends and acquaintances.
