Mr. Robert M. "Bobby" Loyd 78 of Shelbyville died peacefully at his home surrounded by wife and children on July 26th. He was a waste water plant operator for the City of Shelbyville for 17 years. Before becoming disabled he was also an electrician for Watco Sign Co. He was a Baptist, a member of the American Legion, a historian and was proud to have served in the U.S. Army Armored Division and the 5th Army, during the Korean Conflict. He has fought many illnesses during his life, starting at 11 years old. He was a former Assistant Director with Civil Defense and a Constable with Bedford County.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Doak H. and Leola Loyd; sisters, Martha Bush and Emma Jean Oster; Grandson, Jeff Loyd and his best friend and companion "Dug" (Bassett Hound).

He is survived by his wife, Jean Spence Loyd; Children, Mark (Jewell) Loyd, Gregg (Dawn) Loyd, Christy (Michael) Thompson, Dwight Spence and Orien (Shirley) Loyd; five Grandchildren, one Great Grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 29th, at Hillcrest Funeral Home Rev. Anthony Williams officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Willow Mount Cemetery. Visitation will begin Monday at 12:00 P.M. until time of service.
