Mrs. Bessie Poffenberger Brandt Horn, 78, widow of the Rev. J.E. Kemp Horn, of 600 Preston Rd., died at the Washington County Hospital on Saturday morning.
She was born and reared in Hagerstown and was a daughter of Judge Thomas A. and Annie Murray Poffenberger. She was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church and many civic organizations.
She is survived by daughter, Mrs. Herman B. Hoopes of Hagerstown; two grandsons and four great-grandsons; sister Mrs. Ellsworth Roulette of Hagerstown; brothers, Harry and John Poffenberger, both of Hagerstown, Leonard T. Poffenberger of Dunbar, W. Va.
The body was taken to the Coffman Funeral Home. Private services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing.
The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's Methodist Church Building Fund.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herman B. Hoopes, 830 The Terrace this evening from 7 to 9.
