He was born November 6, 1937 to Benjamin E. and Ada (Stahl) Frey, Sr. in Paxton-Harrisburg, PA. John graduated from Biglerville High School in 1956. He was married to Lucinda Joann (Irvin) Frey on Feb 10th 1962.
He was a life member of the York Springs Fire Company, the NRA and Mt. Holly Fish and Game. He was a member of the Hebron Masonic Lodge Number 465 and was also a member of the Harrisburg Consistory. John was a member of the Pennsylvania Beekeepers Association and the Adams County Beekeepers Association. He was also a member of the Adams County Republican Committee. He enjoyed beekeeping, hunting and selling his own honey at the Apple Harvest Festival for over 40 years. He was a member of St. Marks Lutheran Church of Heidlersburg, PA.
He is survived by his current wife, Mary L. Frey, two sons: John "Rick" R. Frey, Jr. and wife Alice, Dwayne "Buzz" Frey and wife Annette all of York Springs, a daughter, Beverly A. Weaver of Hanover; two sisters: Betty Wolf and husband Rodney of Gettysburg, Dorothy "Dottie" Miller and husband Robert of New Oxford, foster brother, Clair Moritz of York Springs, sister-in-law Barbara Frey, and grandchildren: John R. Frey III, Kevin E. Frey, Erika M. Weaver, Jessica L. Frey, Emily M. Weaver, and a great-grandson Gabriel Frey.
He was preceded in death by his former wife Lucinda on September 15, 2012, his parents and brother, Benjamin E. Frey Jr.
