In memory of Bruce R. Stannard, a native of Texas, passed away May 30, 1954 at 10:40 a.m. at Veterans Adm. Hospital in St. Louis. He served in Spanish American War and Phillipine Insurection as 1st Sergeant U. S. Infantry and returned to the states after expiration of Enlistment.

He met Miss Louise A. Weber, whom he married in 1905 in St. Louis. He entered the Dept. of Interior where he did clerical work at an Indian Agency at Sisseton, South Dakota, later entering the Navy Dept., where he was writer to the Labor Bureau at Bremerton, Wash. For 5 years.

He was a member of Charleston Camp No. 3 S.W.V. and received a life membership from that order. He entered the grocery business at Encanto, Calif., and the Training Camp at San Francisco and was commissioned a 1st Lieutenant and later discharged at Camp Grant, Ill., a year later returning to California entering the Real Estate business.

He served in State Legislature of California for two years and as city councilman in San Diego for four years.

He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 6 San Diego for more than 25 years. He attended church at Encanto but was a firm believer in Unity School of Christianity, Kansas City, Mo. He organized the Air Craft Warning Post of Encanto, Calif. In 1941 and served more than 500 hours. He retired and came to reside in Marine, Ill., in 1951.

Funeral service will be at 2 o’clock Wednesday, June 2 at the Dauderman Funeral Home. Rev. Harley Krieger officiating, and burial in Marine cemetery.
