Eloise H. Anderson
1919 ~ 2013

Eloise H. Anderson was born in Caldwell, Idaho to Austin and Helen Heath on April 5, 1919 and she died at home on July 25, 2013 with family and close friends at her side. With Eloise's birth, the Heath trio was born! Throughout her life Eloise, sister Hollis and brother Norval sang whenever they were asked and they were very good. Hollis arranged the music while Eloise and Norval fell in line. Eloise attended elementary and high school in Caldwell and went on to graduate from The College of Idaho, where she met and married big man on campus, Doug Anderson, in 1942. They were married until his death in 1981. She was employed at Idaho First National Bank, first in Caldwell as a teller during her college years. When she and Doug moved to Boise, Eloise transferred to the Boise downtown branch where she worked as a secretary, then administrative assistant to the president and eventually became the first female officer of the bank. During those years she wrote "First Talk", the bank's newsletter and a book, Frontier Bankers. Eloise was very active in the Idaho Secretaries Association, Rosebuds and Fortnightly. She was a long time member of Boise First Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir and faithfully served as Elder and Stated Clerk of Boise Presbytery. Eloise was honored by her beloved College of Idaho as a two time recipient of the Alumni Service Award, the most recent in May 2013.
After she retired from the bank, Eloise, Hollis and sometimes cousin Fern took many memorable trips to see Norval in California, Hawaii and Europe. The stories they told from those trips kept everyone entertained for years. Birthdays were a big event to Eloise, sometimes lasting for weeks. Eloise loved to cook, sew, read anything historical or factual but nothing fictional; she wrote poetry, sometimes to a favorite hymn or any other tune she knew, then convinced family and friends to sing along at whatever event was being celebrated. Even though she and Doug had no children, she was a caring mother to many fortunate close friends and family. Aunt Eloise, we love you and shall miss you!
In 2002 after enjoying a lifetime of physical activity, Eloise was diagnosed with ALS. She slowed down a little, continued to play bridge, go on trips, attend church, concerts and go out to lunch. In the past few years, her life became increasingly difficult as this terrible disease took its toll. Eloise died as courageously and graciously as she lived.
Eloise is survived by her brother, Norval Heath and his children Jim (Mary), Judy, David (Yvonne) and Shannon (Mike); niece Vicki Bicandi (Skip), the Anderson family in Indiana, cousins Eileen Sower and Anne Quinn (Pat), Trish Olley, several generations of nieces, nephews and cousins, and very special long time friend and caregiver Anna Letizia. She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, sister, cousins and nephew. Special thanks to Treasure Valley Hospice and to Brightstar for extraordinary care - Karissa, Brittany, Karrie, Kim, JoAnn and Rebecca, to name a few.
Memorials can be sent to the College of Idaho in Caldwell, Idaho or to Boise First Presbyterian Church in Boise, Idaho.
Eloise's life will be celebrated at Boise First Presbyterian Church on State Street in Boise on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow the service at the church.
