Mrs. Janet Boleman Canales, 92, formerly of Elberton, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Georgia surrounded by her family.
She was born on December 7, 1920 in Franklin County, Georgia to the late John L. and Amy Haley Boleman. She was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith.
Left to cherish her memories are her children: Sue Tatum and husband, Mickey, of Pine Mountain, Ga., Janet Maddox of Pine Mountain, Ga., and Amy Jo Dickerson of Elberton; nine grandchildren: John Maddox, David Maddox, Lisa Maddox Dye, Angie Dickerson-Schnatz, Lance Dickerson, Pam Tatum Leffert, Kim Tatum, Glen Canales, and Joey Canales; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Canales was preceded in death by a son, Duane Canales, and was the last surviving sibling, having been preceded in death by 11 siblings.
Graveside services will be held at Elmhurst Cemetery on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Joe Watson officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday, July 27, 2013 from 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at Hicks Funeral Home, Elberton.
Flowers will be graciously accepted, or memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 100 Brookstone Centre Parkway, Columbus, GA 31904.
