Farol Edith Haynes was born May 26, 1905, in Bronson, Kansas, to Edna Naomi Thompson Haynes and Clarence Alva Haynes. She was one of two children. Her sister was Irene Frances Haynes Wilson.

On April 14, 1931, in Pasadena, California, she married Stanley Forbes Taylor (born February 15, 1906, in England). They had two daughters, Farolyn Ann Taylor (born January 28, 1937, in New York), and Arlene Grace Taylor (born in 1941, in Kansas).

Farol Haynes received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Hardin-Simmons University in 1928. She became a pastor's wife and served as president of the local and state Women's Missionary Union for many years.
