WILLIAMSTOWN - Cathleen Bea Potvin, 67, of Pleasant Street, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at the Gifford Medical Center in Randolph, peacefully with her family at her bedside.

Born Jan. 26, 1941, in Montpelier, she was the daughter of Myron and Inez (Burnham) Brown. She attended Barre schools and Spaulding High School.

In earlier years she had been a cashier at the former Grand Union store and had managed the Highgate Apartments. She later was a switchboard operator in the Montpelier office of New England Telephone & Telegraph and for Goddard College.

Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, gardening, feeding her birds, bowling, camping and family get-togethers.

She will be remembered as a loving mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend and loved being with them all. She loved her pets which were a large part of her life.

Besides her mother, Inez Bird, of Hardwick, she is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Shangraw and her husband, Steven, of Williamstown, and Jennifer Riendeau and her husband, Richard, of North Danville; seven grandchildren, Bradley, Michael, John, Thomas and his wife, Stacey, and Daniel Shangraw and Christine Riendeau and Marc Riendeau and his girlfriend, Christine Call; and three great-grandchildren, Nolan Moore, Brent Cullen-Shangraw and Macayla Riendeau; a half brother, William Bird of Gulfport, Fla.; and two half sisters, Connie Kapusta and Lenore Renaud, both of Hardwick.

She was predeceased by her father, aunts, cousins and husband Jeffery Potvin.

A graveside service will be held at a time to be announced in the Wilson Cemetery in Barre Town next spring. There are no calling hours.
