Bennie L. Goodwin, 76, of El Dorado, died Saturday, July 20, 2013, at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock.

He was born March 17, 1937, in Fordyce, the son of Charlie and Isabella Davis Goodwin.

He was a member of New Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Norphlet.

Goodwin was employed with the Union County Sheriff's Office before retiring. He was a member of the Union County Sheriff Reserve.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Aurbrey Goodwin, Charlie Goodwin and Lamar Goodwin; five sisters, Lillian Harris, Inez Nelson, Cardellis Barrett, Helen Goodwin and Geneva Brent; and a stepdaughter, Khrystian V. Kennedy.

Survivors include his wife, Jimmie Faye Goodwin of El Dorado; his stepson, Michael Jones of Fort Worth, Texas; stepdaughters, Kathay Walter of El Dorado, Janice Harris of Millington, Tenn., and Antionette Mitchell of Jacksonville, Fla.; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A public viewing will be held from 1 until 5 p.m. today and from 8 until 11 a.m. Saturday at Andrews Funeral Home.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Rudolph Stennis officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
