IRON MOUNTAIN - Adrian Duane Bergeron, 78, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at his home with his wife at his side.

He was born in Iron Mountain on Feb. 27, 1935, the son of the late Tellis and Martha (Gardner) Bergeon.

Adrian graduated from Kingsford High School in 1953. He worked at the Hannah Mining Co. for two years before beginning a 20 year career working for Gambles Inc. in Iron Mountain, Escanaba, and Hibbing, Minn. In 1968 Adrian and his brother-in-law, the late Melvin Martin, began Import Motors, which later became Bergeron Toyota. On July 11, 2013, Bergeron Toyota celebrated its 45th anniversary. The family-run business was the pride of Adrian's life and he worked there six days a week, until May of this year.

Adrian was fond of collecting guns and coins. He was an avid reader of Western books and he thoroughly enjoyed playing Blackjack. He loved flowers, Italian food, fresh tomatoes and listening to the music from the '60s and '70s. Adrian was proud of his Native American heritage. He loved living in the Iron Mountain-Kingsford area and felt it was the best place in the world to live. He was a member of St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

His legacy includes a die-hard work ethic, true generosity, and a hardy sense of humor. Adrian was a man of conviction and determination. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and his faithful companion, Shebah.

Adrian married Patt Matchett on Feb. 22, 1975, in Iron Mountain. The couple enjoyed 38 years of marriage.

Adrian is survived by his wife, Patt; eight children, Mark Bergeron of Portland, Ore., Scott Bergeron (Maureen) of Iron Mountain, Kim Fox (Marty) of Iron Mountain, Brian Bergeron (Cindy) of Iron Mountain, Adrian Bergeron II of Iron Mountain, Cameron "Telly" Bergeron of Kingsford, Mark Bergeron of Kingsford and Eric Bergeron (Laura) of Iron Mountain; 10 grandchildren, Coco Lyons (Steve), Jadia Christensen, Nikki Wender (Ryan), Desirae Carlson, Ethan Fox, Christopher Bergeron (Jen), Amanda Bergeron, Ayden Bergeron, Keri McMahon and Michael McMahon; and eight great-grandchildren, Hayden and Evan Lyons, Liam and Trinity Christensen, Tony and Raven Wender, Natalie Carlson, and Cassie McMahon.

He is further survived by his former wife, Marge Lysell (Bill); brothers and sisters-in-law, Allen Matchett (Sylvia) of Randville, Dan Matchett (Eileen) and Laura Jacobson, both of Felch, June Bozile of Vulcan, Dorothy Martin of Quinnesec, Margaret Loper (Les) and Brian Starnes, both of Iron Mountain, and Marian Matchett of Ingals, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Adrian was preceded in death by one brother, Glen Bergeon (Frieda); one daughter-in-law, Denise Bergeron; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert Bozile, Alan Jacobson, James Matchett (JoLee) and Shirley Starnes.

At Adrian's request, private family services will be held. Father Michael Woempner will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park.
