He was the son of Augustus Nieding and Margaret Heisner. He immigrated to Ohio when he was about 17years of age, in 1857. According to the 1900 Census in Ohio he married Margaret Neufer in 1871. They lived in Elyria Township, Lorain Co. and he was a farmer. He was 62 years old when died. He was survived by his wife, Marqret Neufer Nieding and three children, Henry, at home, George and wife Annie C (Sabiers) Nieding of Amherst, and Mary and husband, Jacob Battenhouse of Lorain City. He was buried in Crown Hill Cemetery, Amherst, Ohio.
