Mr. Yancey lived in Tracy for 26 years and Salida for four years before moving to Hayward in 1985. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I, and had worked as a coal miner in Illinois and as a welder in the shipyards in Washington. He was a member of Carpenters Local 1869, and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America.
