Sarah (1847-1876) better known as "Sally" Challacombe, homesteaded with her husband Henry Challacombe on what is now known as the Arthur Stecher farm, one mile northwest of Haven.
Sally died in 1876 leaving four children. Henry Challacombe, discouraged by the loss of his wife and hard times of those years, sold his farm and left for Oregon. He made the trip with a team and wagon and leading a cow. He married the lady who helped him take the children to Oregon and to them, four more children were born. Some of the Challacombes are still living in Oregon.

The Astle Family
Sarah, known as Sally Challacombe, homesteaded with her husband one mile northwest of Haven. She died in 1876 leaving four children who moved with their father to Oregon. He made the trip with a team and wagon, leading a cow. He married the lady who helped take the children to Oregon.
They had four children. Their farm was bought by Chris Stecher.
