George W. Giese, 96, of Heartland Health Care Center, Henry, died at 5:25 a.m. Sept. 15 in Perry Memorial Hospital, Princeton.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Immanuel Lutheran Church (county line) Peru. The Rev. James Zuehls will officiate. Burial will be in Tonica.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville.

He was born May 30, 1899, in Eden Township in La Salle County to Gustave and Emma (Ott) Giese. He married Viola Naumann on Feb. 12, 1925, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Peru.

He was a farmer all of his life, a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, a member of the Bureau County Farm Bureau, and past director of the Cedar Point Lock and the Standard School Board.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Dorothy Giese Emory of Prairie City, Ill.; four grandchildren and one step great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by four sisters and a half-brother.

Memorials may be directed to the Immanuel Lutheran Church or Heartland Health Care Center.
