Richard "Dick" Butler, 73, Butler died September 25, 2004 in Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City.
He was born July 8, 1932 to Dwight Wayne and Sadie Harriett STOCKS Butler in Stafford. He graduated from Stafford High School in 1950.
He married Mary Etta FRAZIER November 17, 1951 in Clinton.
In May of 1952 he enlisted in the US Air Force and served four years during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge he returned to western Oklahoma and enrolled at Southwestern State University where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Education in 1959 and his Masters in 1961. He started his career in Arapaho where he served as principal. He moved to Sentinel as principal and then Weatherford where he was promoted to Superintendent. He worked as a superintendent at Okemah and Comanche and then to the State Department of Education in 1985.
He married Jo Ann WALL December 30, 1985 in Gainsville, Texas. Upon his retirement they moved to Foss Lake area.
Survivors include five daughters, Kathy Neufield and husband Rodney, Weatherford; Sandra Teasley and husband Calvin, Weatherford; Janalyn Taylor and husband Joe, Clinton; Susan Rollins and husband Rick, Austin, Texas; and Sheri Branch and Burgin Sund, New Orleans;three sons, Billy Branch and wife Mary, Comanche; Alton Lynn Branch and wife Evelyn, Comanche; Ricky Branch and wife Sheri, Duncan; his mother Sadie Butler, Leedey; a sister Carolyn Price and husband R. J., Coffeyville, Kansas;his twin brother Thomas Dwight Butler and wife Dixie, Waurika; 18 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife JoAnn in July 2003 and his father Dwight Butler.
Services were September 28, 2004 in First Baptist Church, Butler with Rev. Jack Pilgrim officiating. Burial was in Stafford Cemetery under direction of Stanley Lee Funeral Home.
