Syd or Grandpa was always positive, loved and was loved by his family and friends.
Syd met and married his lifelong friend Dorothy Ann "Pee Wee" on March 6, 1943. She preceded him to heaven in October of 2008. He and his loved were married for 65 yrs. They had four children: Cynthia, Jeffrey, Scott (who died tragically this February) and Cathleen. They have 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren with one more on the way. Grandpa loved his family!
Syd worked almost his whole career for United Airlines, taking his family on many vacation trips.
He enjoyed working in his yard and always had iris, tulips, roses, gardenias, geraniums, and hibiscus blooming. His "yard" at Spring Creek was coming into full bloom Saturday. Grandpa was a bird watcher and recorded every species he had seen or fed in San Mateo, CA for 52 years.
His Buick that he hasn't driven in 9 years, and still looks and drives great because of his care. His apartment contained 100 yrs. of memories, all of which he could tell a story about. His quick humor could always bring a good laugh and he told us that the important thing in life was being with his family.
Syd, Grandpa, thanks for being with us. Godspeed and tell Grandma "Hi" for us all.
