Longtime Sonora resident Effie (Kelley) Harris died June 9 at a Sonora hospital. She was 97.
Ms. Harris was born in Flip, Mo., and lived in Sonora for 34 years. She worked as a clerk for a U.S. Army depot for many years. She was a charter member of the American Association of Retired Person's Sonora chapter. She volunteered at the Tuolumne County Senior Center and enjoyed making crafts.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Sue Harris of Sonora; her nephew, Tom Nielson of Modesto; and nieces Bobbie Bosley of Sacramento, Joyce Lupo and Sharon Dunbar, both of Sonora, Donna Brewer and Mary Machado, both of Jamestown, and Tammy Hunt of Stockton.
Services have been held.
Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
