George Washington Green Sr. was the husband of Missouri Ann Harrington, who he married in abt. 1865 in Columbia County, Florida. They had the following children: William Henry Green b. May 1867; Calhoun Leach Green b. May 1869; Jonah Duncan Green b. 20 Jan 1871; Liberty Nathaniel Green b. 05 July 1873; Ida Ormetta Green b. 27 Oct. 1875; George Washington Green, Jr. b. 15 Mar 1880; Parker Zachariah Green b. 14 Jan. 1882; Hattie Green b. 20 Mar. 1884 (this is possibly Harriet); William Ozzie Green b. 04 May 1887 and Rosa Green b. 08 Jan 1890.

George W. Green, Sr. served in the Confederate States Army in the 2nd Florida Infantry, Company C, Columbia Rifles.

His parents were William Joseph Green Sr (Dec 12, 1794-July 19, 1856) a Baptist Minister and Mary Elizabeth Dicks (1803-1876). They moved from South Carolina to Columbia County, Fl to pastor a Baptist Church near the Falling Creek Falls and Dicks Road area. Mary Elizabeth Dicks parents were Josiah Dicks and Sarah Johnson. Her paternal grandparents were Penelope and Lt. William Dicks of South Carolina who is listed on page 192 DAR Patriot Index for the Revolutionary War.

Therefore George Washington Green, Sr. is a Descendant of at least two Revolutionary War Patriots. His grandparents were Elizabeth W. Bates and Reuben Green of Barnwell, SC. His great grand parents were Pheneby and William Green Sr. A Calvaryman in the Revolutionary War and County Commissioner for Barnwell, SC where he owned 1900 acres when his will was probated in 1815.
