They moved from South Carolina to Columbia County, Fl to pastor a Baptist Church near the Falling Creek Falls and Dicks Road area. Mary Elizabeth Dicks parents were Josiah Dicks and Sarah Johnson. Her paternal grandparents were Penelope and Lt. William Dicks of South Carolina who is listed on page 192 DAR Patriot Index for the Revolutionary War.
Therefore George Washington Green, Sr. is a Descendant of at least two Revolutionary War Patriots. His grandparents were Elizabeth W. Bates and Reuben Green of Barnwell, SC. His great grand parents were Pheneby and William Green Sr. A Calvaryman in the Revolutionary War and County Commissioner for Barnwell, SC where he owned 1900 acres when his will was probated in 1815.
