BODY FOUND IN WHITE RIVER THAT OF A BLOOMINGTON WOMAN

Owen County officials have released the identity of the woman whose body was found in the White River in Freedom.

Jessica Hope Thacker, 27, of Bloomington, was found by fishermen in the water just south of the Freedom bridge Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators from the Owen County Sheriff's Department and Prosecutor's Office continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Thacker's death, according to a press release from Lt. William Snodgrass of the sheriff's department.

Owen County Coroner Stan Frank did not provide an exact cause or manner of death for Thacker when contacted Saturday afternoon.

Forensic pathologist Roland Kohr performed the autopsy in Terre Haute Thursday afternoon. At that time, officials planned to use dental records and fingerprinting to help identify her.

Thacker was the mother of one boy and four girls, ranging in age from 9 to 2.

"For the most part, she was good hearted. She loved her kids and she loved animals," Thacker's mother, Kelly Douthitt, said by phone on Saturday. "She was just still a big kid at heart, you know?"
