LANA IWALANI ROBINSON

Lana Iwalani "Punkin" Robinson, 47, of Charleston/Rand, formerly of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away Feb. 11, 2011. She was a daughter of Sandra Robinson Flannigan of Honolulu and the late Oswald D. Robinson.

She was preceded in death by her uncles, Robert C. Robinson, Alvin "Saing" Robinson; and cousins, Judy K. Smith and Robert L. Robinson.

She leaves behind three children, Kassandra A. Robinson, David E. Robinson and Lana I. Robinson; three grandchildren, Kalanii A. Robinson, Daeonii E. Robinson and David Robinson Jr.; her companion, Kevin Jones; the father of her children, David E. Berger; sisters, Lisa Collier, Christina Robinson, Lina (Jason) Burkhart and Terisita Simms; one brother, Henry C. Hicks; nephews, Christopher K. Robinson, Kale K. Robinson, Braeden M. Robinson and Joyce Burkhart; and nieces, Lakisha Collier and Azsa Hicks.

Ms. Lana Robinson graduated from West Virginia State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice. She received her Master of Arts degree from Marshall University Graduate College in 1998. In addition, she was licensed as a substitute teacher through the West Virginia Board of Education and held a real estate certification from Garnet Career Center, Charleston.

Ms. Robinson was previously employed with the Kanawha Valley Center (KVC) for five years as a therapist, specializing in at-risk children and families. She was employed by the West Virginia Division of Juvenile Services (WDJS) since December 2003.

She started as a community resource coordinator for the Southern Region of West Virginia. She worked in both Kanawha and Putnam counties, providing aftercare services to youth in custody, as well as those returning to their respective communities.

Ms. Robinson was the program director for the Kanawha County Youth Reporting Center for the WVDJS. She was a Trail Blazer in Community Service Award honoree. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Charleston.

Funeral service will be noon Saturday, Feb. 19, at First Baptist Church. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.

Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the church.
