Ray was born October 20th 1927 in Fair Play, MO to Garfield and Elsie (Agee) Hays as one of four children. He proudly served in the Army during the Korean Conflict as Military Police. Ray married Kathryn Dorreen (Coen). He was a Post Office Clerk for the Pershing St. United States Postal Service from 1958 – 1987. Ray was a strong Christian and was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church for many years. He taught Sunday School, enjoyed playing country music on his guitar, and singing duets with his wife. Ray will be remembered as a good husband and father.
He is survived by wife, Kathryn of the home; son, Raymond Banning (Bonnie) of Springfield, MO; son, Paul Hays (Marilyn) of Blue Springs, MO; son, David Hays, of Independence, MO; daughter Kathy Wood of Independence, MO; daughter Sandy Haley (Tim) of Medina, OH; niece, Lou Dean Hoerman (Neil) of Lee's Summit, MO; nephew, Noel Swartwood of Belton, MO; and nephew, Dale Swartwood of Blue Springs, MO; and thirteen grandchildren. Ray was preceded in death by his three sisters, Alta, Marie, and Genevive; and daughter, Jane Ann Poirier. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Fellowship Baptist Church in his name.
