Obituary of Mrs. Dowden
Mrs. Harriet Matilda Dowden, passed away last Wednesday, March 26, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carl Treffer, at the age of 87 years, after a lingering illness.

Harriet Matilda Fair, daughter of Amzia Louis and Emeline Fair was born February 13, 1854, near Moriston. She was united in marriage to James Ashford Dowden, February 13, 1872. Five children were born to this union (Evalena) Mrs. Carl Treffer, of Rockville; Edward and George Dowden (Rosiemay,) Mrs. Chas. Peak and Ray Leon Dowden, all who have preceded their mother in death, except Mrs. Treffer is the only surviving child.

Mrs. Dowden was a patient sufferer and a devout Christian, she also was a member of the Rebekah lodge and the Eastern Star, and will be greatly missed in the home of her daughter. She leaves to mourn her daughter, Mrs. Carl Treffer, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, many relatives and friends. The body was taken to Blair, last Wednesday and funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon.
