He was born in the Giberson Settlement close to Bath. He married Annie Holmes 17 October 1908 in Bath, Carleton, New Brunswick, Canada. The 1920 United States Federal Census has them living in Fort Fairfax, Aroostook, Maine, United States with two sons, Donald and Clarence.
