A noted Irish Sculptor.
Daughter of John Heron, a Bank Official and his wife Mary Elizabeth (née Collen) Heron.
Although born in Dublin, she spent most of her childhood in Coleraine, Co. Derry.


Second wife of David W. Greene, a noted Gaelic scholar and Professor of Irish at Trinity College, Dublin, whom she married in 1959.
They had no children.

DEATH OF IRISH SCULPTRESS

Hilary Heron, the sculptress, died last night. Miss Heron, who was married to Professor David Greene, Director of the School of Celtic Studies, was born in Dublin in 1923 and studied at the National College of Art in Dublin.
She was awarded the Mainie Jellett Travelling Scholarship in 1948, and her work was included in Irish group exhibitions in a number of museums in the United States. She also exhibited in various parts of Europe and in particular at the Irish Exhibition of Living Art. She travelled in Asia, America, and Europe, and her works are in public and private collections in Ireland, England, France, the United States and Australia.
A sister of Barney and Roddy Heron, Hilary, who lived at Killiney, Co. Dublin, was a leading figure in post-war Irish art. Some weeks ago she suffered a stroke.
