Duane D. Rennerfeldt was born on Nov. 5, 1930, in Oakland, Neb., to Leonard Rennerfeldt and Evelyn (Gallup) Rennerfeldt. He passed away Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at Oakland Memorial Hospital in Oakland, Neb., at the age of 73 years.

Duane graduated from Oakland High School in 1948, and received a B.A. in civil engineering from Clemson University, Clemson, S.C. Duane served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1953.

He was employed as a structural engineer at J.E. Sirrine in Greenville for more than 30 years. He returned to Oakland in 1992.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard; a sister, Bonnie Milano; and an infant sister, Crystal.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Rena Rennerfeldt, of Abilene, Texas; daughters, DeLane Rennerfeldt Breen, of Greenville, and Alicia Rennerfeldt, of Greer; mother, Evelyn Rennerfeldt, of Oakland; and four grandchildren, Drew Breen, of Greenville, Spenser Bryant, of Greer, and Stefan and Heidi Rennerfeldt, of Abilene.

Service: 10:30 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Oakland. Burial: Westside Cemetery, rural Oakland, with military honors by the Ryan V.F.W. Post No. 5543 and American Legion Post No. 46. -- Palmquist Pelan Funeral Home.
