NATHERN M. HILL
He was a friend to me and my family. Daddy would get him to help us on the farm, when I was a little girl. I thought the world of him. He would always help me finish my rows of tobacco before he would help my brother, Shade!
He would always try and keep me out of trouble, he really worried about me. *Smile*
I will always remember us working in the tobacco barn, up the holler from my J's Mommy's house. Of course, Shade picked a fight with little sister, and I lit into him, we went rolling off the bank, I was pulling his hair out. Poor ole Nath had to try and break us up. He said he would have to tell Daddy. He never ever let me forget what I said to him, "Nath, if you tell my Daddy, I will pull every hair out of your head!" He laughed, and laughed, I finally let go of Shade.
I was mowing the cemetery, where My Mommy and Daddy is buried. He lived in a log house out from the cemetery. He came and said he wished he was able to help me mow the cemetery, I told him not to worry, he had always worked to hard, it was time for him to rest.
He asked me, if I thought it would be ok to be buried there, over next to the fence, across from Mommy and Daddy. I told him, yes, it was ok, he was part of our family. I didn't want him over next to the fence. He said he didn't want to get in anyone's way. I gave him a big hug, and kissed him on the cheek, told him I loved him, He said, he loved me, I had always been good to him. That was the last time I got to see Nath. I will always remember Nath, he was part of our family.
