On 7 September 1917 he sailed from New York on foreign duty on the SS Mallory. He saw action at Marne and Argonne. In April 1919 he returned on the SS America, landing at Boston, MA. He was honorably discharged on 28 April 1919 with the rank of Sergeant.
His funeral services were held on 12 November 1941 at Culver City Funeral Parlors.
