Tommie Wade Holmes, 74, of Alston Brook Nursing Home formerly of Cloverdale Rd., Lexington, NC passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 in Alston Brook.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM Friday (07/26/2013) at Center Hill Baptist Church where he was a member, with Revs. Brian Alexander and Lamar Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Center Hill Baptist Church cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Tommie was born in Davidson County, to Wade Elmo Holmes and Rosa Hunt Holmes on July 26, 1938. He retired after 30 years, with the NC Dept. of Correction as superintendent of the Mocksville Unit. He was a veteran of The US Marine Corp and a member of Lexington Memorial 473 Masonic Lodge. He loved to ride his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sons, Forrest and Roger Holmes.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Darlene Kinney Holmes of the home; daughter Bridget King and fiancé Larry of Wilkesboro; grandchildren, Stephanie Serritella (Vincent), Christine Klein (Bryan) and Robert Owen Jr.(Anna); great-granddaughter , Angel Marie Klein and brother Paul Wyatt Homes (Rhonda) of Trinity.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Center Hill Baptist Church, 3759 NC Highway 8, Lexington, NC 27292.
