SIMS, Peggy Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Peggy Sims, passed away at Holy Family Hospital on Monday, July 22, 2013 at the age of 76. Peggy fought a long hard battle against Pulmonary Fibrosis and Lupus. With her family by her side, the Lord took her home to the sound of her favorite George Strait song, 3 Nails and a Cross. Peggy was born November 12, 1936 in Butte, Montana to parents Sis and Dinty Moore. She was raised in Centerville and attended St. Lawrence and Girls Central High School. She moved to Santa Monica where she met the love of her life, Paul Sims (who was also from Butte). They married on July 18, 1959 and raised four wonderful daughters who were the pride and joy of their lives. After moving to Spokane in 1979, she worked at Holy Family Hospital for 25 years. Peggy's greatest joy was her family and is survived by her husband of 54 years, Paul; daughters Teri Dunham, Lori (James) Dillon, Colleen (Gordon) Smith, and Paula (Pete) MacDonald. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren and four great-granddaughters. She is also survived by her sister, Shirley McCall and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Jack and her mother and father. Prior to her illnesses, Peggy loved camping, fishing and playing with her grandchildren. She would be the first person out on the sleds and the last one to quit. In recent years she retired to her patio where she enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play in her backyard amongst her prized flower gardens. She was an avid animal lover and was surrounded by numerous pets her whole life which brought her much joy. Her faith in Jesus and her devotion to the Catholic Church never wavered. She has been a member of St. Thomas More Parish for 34 years. She will be greatly missed by her family, extended family, friends, and her pets. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of her favorite charities: Spokane Catholic Charities, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , St. Labre Indian School in Ashland, Montana, or St. Joseph's Indian School located in Chamberlin, South Dakota. Viewing will be Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 6:00 PM, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM, both at St. Thomas More. Funeral Mass will be Friday, July 26, 2013 at 1:00 PM at St. Thomas More. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Please visit Peggy's on-line memorial at www.hennesseyfuneralhomes.com to leave a message of remembrance.
